This month’s featured firefighter is Jeremy Roberts.
Jeremy is standing in front of Engine 8601, Lakeside’s front-line engine. Jeremy holds the rank of Captain and has been active in the department for the last 12 years. He started in the junior program at the age of 13 and has worked into a position of leadership within the department. Jeremy graduated from Pilot Rock High and has lived most of his life in Lakeside. His paid occupation is in sales at Napa Auto Parts in Reedsport. His hobbies include hunting and ATV’s and sometime in the future he would love to pursue a fulltime career in fire service. Should you see Jeremy around town give him your heartfelt thanks for his unselfish service to our community.
Engine 8601 is built on a Freightliner chassis and hosts a 1250 gpm pump and carries 1000 gallons of water on board. Engine 8601 is also Lakeside’s rescue engine and carries a too-many-years-old Hurst tool that breaks often and is in critical need of replacement. With the many MVA’s that Lakeside’s department responds to, a modern dependable tool would really be an asset to the community. Obtaining this necessary and expensive piece of equipment is currently a priority. I’m only writing what I see and would hope that in the near future we could obtain
the necessary funds to support our volunteers with the tools needed to serve their community. Thank you all for your part in making the many volunteer services in our fair town successful. Rod Schilling
