Councilor Tim Crockett
In findings by the Oregon Government Ethics Commission, Lakeside council member Tim Crockett has been found in violation of state ethics laws while in the capacity as Abatement Officer for the City of Lakeside.
In a stipulated settlement, arranged with the help of Crockett’s attorney, the city council member agreed to pay a $180 fine.
The complaint was filed by Richard Burke on behalf of the citizens group Americans for Prosperity. Burke is part of a state chapter of a national group that is aimed at being a watchdog and reformer on issues surrounding governments at all levels.
The group is best known in Oregon for its activities in helping pass a number of citizen-protection initiative petition laws in the City of Damascus.

This may not be the only problem Crockett and the city are facing with regard to Crockett’s behavior in the capacity of fulfilling abatement duties.
City also culpable in separate action?
.
He and the city may also be defending a civil lawsuit in a separate incident. Crockett–also apparently acting as city abatement officer–allegedly tore out a corner monument stake (survey stake) of a property owner. It has been alleged that this was an ongoing dispute with that individual’s neighbor.
The neighbor was apparently Crockett’s brother-in-law.
