“Mad as Hell” Issue 18
I had every intention of staying on schedule, but…
I’m sick at heart and I’m taking a break. I’m not sure I will continue this editorial because it may indeed just be ratcheting up the hatred and animosity in town. God knows, there’s already enough of that.
Maybe the best thing is just to ignore them and hope they crash and burn through their own incompetence.

I’m sick at heart and I’m sure you will not stop with your editorials. I had too speak on this MAD AS HELL ISSUE.
I must say I was hoping after the elections that the editorials from Mad As INSANE would stop. Its seems as if to me this individual who ever it may be doesn’t adjust well too change, I assume its fair too say he or she is “Sick at heart due too the citizens choice of who they wanted in office too represent us. One as Mayor and three as Councilors,
As long as individuals continue too publicly make bitter sweet comments like this they are always going too feel that no matter the good or the bad it wont be good enough.
So I wanna Say Mr. or Mrs. Mad as Hell lets give everyone the chance they deserve and stop prejudging and looking too far into things I have said it before you do not have too like a person that is your prerogative but you are only one person I am sure there are many people who do not like and agree with you.
I know there are people who do not agree with me and they are entitled too there own opinion. But you have no right pushing your feelings or opinion onto others.
Its time we all stand together as a community and work together for a better tomorrow after all that’s what we were all looking for isn’t it ?
So I wanna say this and you can take it in a bad way and you can even start blasting me if you want but my opinion isn’t gonna change any if you are so heart sick then please do stop with all the negative talk and belittling of and do something too help make our community shine not hold a dark cloud over some of your peers heads because you do not agree with them because the won an election.
As you know I lost the election by less then 1% and I am not running around talking bad about others I encourage everyone too work together everyone is entitled too have a chance too make things better.
I seriously believe with the new council things will be for the better because there isn’t a majority of friends on the council now which seemed too be a conflict of interest from talking with a lot of the citizens.
That’s why the citizens elected change if you want too know the facts. Also you seem too have a grudge against Ed Gowan from what I understand after talking too people which is what I like too do many of them actually feel he is whats best for this city.
They also know that he knows policy and yes he may had been recalled but you know as I have stated before he isn’t the only one who had ever been recalled and then won reelection and everyone knows whom that is.
So please stop with all the bad talk and if you truly do wanna see our city continue too move forward then support all who is serving as council and the mayor.
Regardless if you like them or not you are only one voter out of one thousand ninety six registered voters so please rise above and help support your community in a positive way thank you Stacy Dunn
“But you have no right pushing your feelings or opinion onto others.”
You might want to google up The US Constitution, First Amendment. I believe Freedom of Speech to be covered in that document. Seriously, check it out.
Let’s go back a bit. When the new council was seated in 2008 did you and yours support the change? No, you didn’t, after the six month waiting period you and your launched a recall campaign against the newly elected councilors. It prompted the other side to file a recall as well, against your side. Both failed but cost the city thousands of dollars.
Then when mayor Orville Nelson and Tim Crockett quit because they didn’t want to play nice with the other council members, did you support Schilling as mayor pro tem?
No, you and yours packed the council meetings with naysayers and contention.
So, using your example what do you think will happen now that your side has stepped into council positions? Now your suggesting everyone play nice, cuz after all its you and yours.
Well mad as hell, I would not feel right if you the only person in Lakeside that is willing to tell the facts decided to stop because it might cause animosity for the council. I know the people will see what they have picked for councilors within a very short time. I am waiting.
I wish it was as easy as Dunn says, least he forget that he and his group have been attacking the existing council since they were elected. He says now it is time to play nice. Wouldn’t that be nice . I would love to see all of the citizens be happy with what the city council is trying to do. It is not going to happen. Not this way. This fighting has been going on since before 1990. Some years better, some years worse.
Dunn , are you forgetting that there are nearly as many citizens that voted against the mayor as voted for the mayor. Let this council make radical changes, and they may face a recall. I would hope that it does not come to that. The new mayor knows fully well that he can be recalled. Since an attempted recall by the group you supported failed ( you did not care about the money) why would you not think that another group will hesitate to recall, if they do not agree.
I am interested to see how this council will deal with the RV permanent and visitor situation will be handled, and a number of other politically charged issues .
There are some here that think it would be better to close the city down altogether. Let it go back to the county. There is a legal term when you dissolve a city and return it to the county jurisdiction. I am not sure of what positives and negatives that would carry with it Maybe that would stop the fighting between those in control and those not in control.
JEEPER
I am sorry but I do not believe I was the one involved in the recall efforts last year hmm I must be mistaken but the last time I checked i didn’t even choose too vote for or against it.
Secondly I just nearly stated that if he is sick at heart then just maybe he should stop with the editorials and then the new council as well as mayor wont be walking into a negative outlook from the citizens.
All this bickering doesn’t help fix any of the issues that’s what I am nearly trying too explain here sure KP he is entitled too his opinion you think I do not know this um Hello where have you been when I have not stated it once not even twice but more then three time people are entitled too voice there opinions.
But what is failing too happen here is the fact that there is never going too be any positive change here in our community unless others stop with the negative comments and start bonding together too work for a better tomorrow.
I am not saying that Rod didn’t do some good that he did do but his time is almost up and we need to support all the council and I never once not supported Mr. Schilling I have only been too one council meeting that I can even recall since he was appointed too be mayor because of my work schedule .
So do not try too twist this issue and make a bunch on non since out of nothing which isn’t facts. I may not agree with everything Mr Schilling stands for but that is normal he done what he felt the citizens wanted him too do and that’s all he could do. This isn’t about our parting mayor pro tem its about standing up and fighting for the citizens and working together I do not have a side one way or another my side is the citizens of this community so once again I say we need too support everyone and stop pointing fingers I do not agree with any recalls nor do I ever proactively support wasting a communities money when we cant even afford too have local law enforcement when its needed.
Dunn, I know what you said, you really do not need to repeat yourself. The fact is that many people ( I think that would probably include you) and every edition that Coast Lake news wrote spent the last 22 months tearing down the elected councilors that replaced the previous council.
Imagine that. Now you are preaching that we all need to hold hands and play nice with each other. What a concept. Why did you not recognize that 22 months ago? Why did you not preach that 22 months ago ? It occurs to me that it did not meet with your constituents objectives then. Now however you want to preach and sing “Kumbaya” come here lets be friends.
What is your stake in this? How do you profit from this? You seem to like to answer for other people. Why don’t you let other people have their own voice?
I did not know that you are now a psychiatrist, but I can see that you are doing anything you can to silence the truth. Leave the editor of mad as hell alone. Whoever that is, is smart enough to make decisions without your help. That has happened before in history and when it does it is not a good thing for the people. Now that a few citizens are standing up for what they believe, you are preaching just go ahead and quit. We all need to get along. Everything will be great. It is a new day and everyone will get everything that they want.
Wake up, it is not a new day in Lakeside politics. I have seen the same things happen for so many years here that the only thing that amazes me is you attempting to stop someone from speaking their thoughts and the real facts that have occurred over the last couple of years.
It would be nice if everyone could come to the table and be heard without ridicule. Speak their piece without being placed on one side or another by click groups of people. State their opinion without being put down, coerced, or harassed. Listened to with compassion and concern, without being judged.
This city has a great deal of work that needs to be completed, ordinences that need to be reviewed, some that need to be rewritten , like the RV one, and so many issues that need to be resolved. Funding for the city, the senior center, public works, watershed, sheriff support, and so much more. The exact same things the outgoing council faced when they came into office. Twenty something years ago we faced the same types of problems.
First we all need to find common ground. A place we can stand on, where no one feels threatened. A place we can talk without being judged. A place to begin. A starting point. There are going to be changes with the new council and many people will feel threatened by the changes .How do we get past that? How do we get people to trust one another? No one can work in fear of what others will say. Many people will not involve themselves because of fear of the newspaper and what will be printed in it about them.
I believe there are people, smart, educated, skilled people in this town that could make anything that is good, honest, and true happen for the benefit of Lakeside. I think that they will start to emerge only when they know that we are all on common ground.
