Harmony Garden
“Our first full weekend of summer, wow was it beautiful or what?! You could almost hear the plants at our Harmony Community Garden hit high gear making up for lost time. We had nine “Jr” gardeners attend this Saturdays session along with several moms as well as Sue and Nadine from our Lakeside Library.
Airanna, Emily, Hayley, Alexis, Macey, Aubree, Stevie, Megan and Elyssia all had a chance to plant, water and tag their own veggies:
♥ beans
♥ peppers
♥ cabbage
♥ a geranium was added for color
Everyone got to pick ripe peas, radishes, some thinned out onions. Emily got the our first ripe cabbage of the season to take home.
No visit to the garden is complete without a stop at the worm laden compost pile. All the little ones enjoyed gathering a few each to place in the raised beds. Just to make it a perfect day for me, Aubree tugged on my sleeve to get my attention and said she “loved this place!”
We ended with a short talk about how each of them could be Mother Natures little helpers by not being litter bugs and to RENEW, REUSE AND RECYCLE stuff.
Sherry and I will be at the garden next Saturday from 1 to 2 p.m. If you have any questions, tips or would just like a quick tour, stop by-we’d love to show you around. Thanks.
