From the desk of Lakeside Mayor Schilling

The majority of June was dedicated to passing a new Lakeside City budget for fiscal year 2010-2011.

The budget included a two percent cost of living raise for our city employees along with some revamped numbers to operate the City of Lakeside in the coming year.

The city of Lakeside is currently in good shape financially.

Eighth Street makeover

A total makeover of Eighth Street from Railroad Avenue to the Hiilltop bridge is now a done deal.

The new retro looking LED lights are beautiful and more cost effective than the old HPS fixtures.

Johnson Rock, the contractor hired by the County to do this project, along with their sub contractors did a wonderful job.

Dealing with unseasonably wet weather only slowed progress slightly and downtown businesses were able to maintain a customer flow with little or no problems.

Our thanks to the Coos County Board of Commissioners for a project that will serve Lakeside residents and tourists alike, well into the future.

Independence Day festivities

The Fourth of July celebration was awesome as usual and a long weekend of fun was available for the taking.

A huge note of thanks for the fireworks committee and their hard work making this happen.

Ongoing beautification

The beautification project continues and you might have noticed the “local artist” fish decorating flower boxes all along Eighth Street.

A special thanks to Diane O’Bryan and her team for their many hours of hard work and dedication.

Get involved

We hope that more and more folks will get involved. There are many areas in Lakeside that would benefit from good people doing good things like the above mentioned folks.

Volunteer, make new friends, and enjoy ownership of a piece of our fair city!
