Summer happening’s at Lakeside Library
Things are happening at Lakeside Library this summer!
The summer reading program will run eight weeks this year with lots of interesting topics, July 7 through August 25, 1:30 – 2:15 pm. Prizes and awards for reading and attendance will be given to all the children.
Lakeside Library will be offering sessions on gardening, dance, pottery; the lakes and, of course, Lakeside Rural Fire District will be participating. At this time the final session is planned to give the “Grow Ur Grub” Garden kids a chance to cook up a nice vegetable soup to share with their families.
The theme this year is; “Make a Splash @ Your Library”, the Story Lady, Miss Sue has been working very hard to be prepared to give Lakeside’s children every opportunity to splash in a big way.
In an effort to encourage parents to enroll their children in summer reading programs; the Oregon State Library and the Oregon College Savings Fund Program have joined together to be able to award 15- $1000 savings accounts throughout the State.
Each child who signs up for and attends a library summer reading program will receive an application for the drawing. If a Lakeside child wins a savings account, Lakeside Library will receive $500.00 for future childrens’ programs. Parents must sign a permission slip for the reading program and submit the entry form for the college savings account drawing.
The Friends of Lakeside Public Library are sponsoring their annual Book Sale and, this year a library “Open House” to celebrate 30 years of the Coos County Library Service District. Refreshment will be served and there will be a drawing for prizes. Please post the attached flyer with details of the “Open House”.
