A five dollar permit is required for inflatable kayaks and non-motorized boats more than ten feet long. The law is new, having started January 2010, it is enforced by marine officers across the state.

Those failing to have a permit with them could be ticketed for a $142. The permit and ticket fees are earmarked toward measures in fighting the invasive species.

Aquatic plants and animals are transported between lakes and streams causing  damage to public water recreational areas.
