Fertile minds and fertile ground have both found a place to flourish in Lakeside’s Harmony Garden next to city hall.

Lakeside Public Library, Lakeside Harmony Community Garden and Coos Master Gardener’s Association are sponsoring Lakeside Library’s SRP “Grow Ur Grub” Garden 2010.

The theme for the garden is “Water Your Mind, READ”. Both Garden Clubs waived membership fees for the garden project which will tie in with the library’s Summer Reading Program beginning in July.

Saturday, April 24 at 1:00 pm, Lakeside Harmony Community Garden, children 6 to 14 years old will begin the first steps, guided by Master Gardener, Aaron Richards, through bed preparation, planting, tending and harvesting the groups’ garden boxes.

Registration and permission forms are available at Lakeside Public Library. A parent or guardian must sign a permission form, and are encouraged to participate in the garden project along with their child. Forms will also be available on opening day.
