Coos County Commissioner Nikki Whitty, was in Lakeside on April 27, to help celebrate the groundbreaking for street and sidewalk upgrades on Eighth Street.
At the same time she took the opportunity to invite people to welcome home the troops to Coos County.
At a later date there will be a formal event honoring the troops to be held at the Armory.
