Vandalism dictates new hours for Lakeside Post Office

March 29, 8:51 a.m., someone broke into five post office boxes in the Lakeside Post Office in 100 block of South Eighth Street, in Lakeside.

The Post Office closing time will now be 4 pm week days and open from 7 am- 10 am on Saturday. The inconvenience is the result of vandalism and possible theft on Monday.

The Post Mistress, stated “the sanctity and integrity of the mail is what is important.” It is a federal crime and has been turned over to postal inspectors and the local Sheriff’s Department.

The crime carries a fine, imprisonment or both.
