Mike Mader, Watershed Coordinator, announced at the regular March watershed meeting and again at the March regular city council meeting that OWEB has recommended funding of two grants.

Oregon Watershed Enhancement Board (OWEB) recommended funding of $153,505 for restoration of South Tenmile Lake bridges.

Additionally, OWEB recommended funding of $117,275 for monitoring of the watershed, with the requirement the applicant work with OWEB and Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) to refine, focus and target the monitoring effort.

Grants and projects are a continuing process and are submitted monthly in an effort to improve the community and the city of Lakeside. Mader said that, ” getting grants approved is an absolute team effort.”

The city of Lakeside receives ten percent administration cost which goes into the city budget. The total for the two grants is $27,000.

Tenmile Lakes Basin Partnership has nearly completed filling board positions; they are committed to serving for two years beginning January 2010.
