CRAWDAD FESTIVAL

MAY 7, 8, 9 – 2010

NEWEST ON WHAT’S HAPPENING

AN UPDATE – Newest on what’s happening at the Lakeside Crawdad Festival

We’ve got bands; CRAWDADS fresh from Louisiana; an eating contest; a Cajun cooking contest; crawdad races for the kids; chicken bingo; a street faire (artists and vendors); a car show (including some Ford Cobra’s); wine tasting; a beer garden; pontoon boat rides on Tenmile Lake; a raffle for a 32 inch, high definition, flat screen TV, along with other prizes; a CARNIVAL and a giant friendly crawdad. Visit website at Lakesidecrawdadfestival.com for more information.

PARKING –Last year Coos County allowed free parking. This year, Coos County is going to charge $2 for parking in the Tenmile Lake County Park parking area.  The Crawdad Festival will not be involved in the parking situation at all nor will we receive any monies from parking. Please remember, there is lots of free parking on the street around the festival and if the City Park is dry, it can be utilized for free parking. Also, one hour of parking is free in the county park. So, if you don’t plan on being there over an hour parking is free.

ADMISSION – We are charging admission of only one dollar for adults, with kids 15 and under free.  Mother’s Day is Sunday, May ninth all mothers will be admitted free. We are stamping hands for admission. The admission fee will pay Coos County for the use of the park, for tents, porta potties, printing, advertising, including a television ad, bands, signs (including banners for Hwy 101 and 8th Street).  Vender sites are also being improved along and many, many other things.

The Lakeside Chamber of Commerce sponsor’s the Festival, but the Festival must pay for itself or it cannot be hosted in following years.  Any profit from this year’s festival goes toward putting on the 2011 festival with the Chamber voting to give 10 percent of the profits toward the City Beautification project for Lakeside.

VOLUNTEERS – We need volunteers willing to work for three hours on Friday, Saturday, or Sunday as a gate attendant.  We are giving all volunteers free passes for the entire weekend.  Please contact me at mattie@lakesidecrawdadfestival.com if you can be a volunteer.  We need your help.  Our next Festival meeting is Friday, April 9, at 3:00 p.m. at Osprey Point Resort.  Please come.

VENDOR SPACE – As of March 28, we have 67 vendor spaces and only 3 still empty, so anyone wanting vendor space needs to contact me immediately at mattie@lakesidecrawdadfestival.com.

TV AD – The Chamber of Commerce and Crawdad Festival Committee has arranged with KEZI to produce a 30 second television advertisement for Lakeside and the Festival.  The first 20 seconds is about Lakeside and the last 10 seconds advertises the Festival.  The Chamber of Commerce agreement is that any non-profit organization in town can pay KEZI $40 to adapt the TV ad for their own event. The first 20 seconds will be the same and the last 10 seconds will their event.  The air time would also have to be paid.  Any group wanting to use the TV advertisement should contact Jonie Reeder, President of the Chamber of Commerce for more information.

We want to make this year’s festival bigger and better than last year.  We hope you come to the Crawdad Festival with the intention of having a good time and that you have a GREAT TIME INSTEAD!!!
