“Get hooked on Lakeside”

Re-kindling the fire to improve the face of Lakeside, citizen representatives from all the Lakeside organizations have been invited to participate.

The Lakeside Chamber of Commerce is very busy; at their regular January meeting Diane O’Bryan presented a sign and theme idea for the new Chamber of Commerce sign.

Those members in attendance enthusiastically adopted the sign concept “Get Hooked on Lakeside” and the ideas that flow from it.

The Chamber is awaiting final sign location permission and okay from the Oregon Department of Transportation.

The old Chamber welcome to Lakeside sign will remain in it’s present location with it’s future in the hands of Donald Mullanix who was demanding $200 a month from the Chamber to have the sign on his property.

Originally, when the sign was placed, the property was owned by Bonneville Power who later sold it to Mullanix.

The Chamber sent a letter to Mullanix offering him the sign and he agreed.

A pervasive feeling of optimism was in the air with ideas and enthusiasm for beautification and growing commerce in Lakeside.

Mike Mader, Watershed Coordinator, has agreed to a limited CoHo fishery starting in 2010. The Tenmile Lakes CoHo angling has to be a fisherman’s dream.

Mader has applied for a grant for a one of a kind handicapped fishing platform proposed for Saunders Creek located within the US Forest Service’s Spinreel Park Campground.
