Santa Clause comes to Lakeside
Santa arrived in Lakeside shortly after 6 pm. Friday evening. He landed without incident on the fire station roof. Firefighters escorted him to the Lion’s Club. There were kids of all ages and sizes awaiting his arrival.
As usual Santa checked his sleigh carefully before he left the North Pole. There were enough gifts for all of the children.
Prior to Santa’s arrival the wonderful Lakeside Lion’s had prepared hot dogs, pop, chips, cookies, and ice cream. There was plenty for everyone and everyone ate their fill.
When the fire department arrived lights flashing with Santa, the kids went wild. The parking lot was awash with parents taking pictures of Santa while the children swarmed in trying to get as close to Ol’ St. Nick as they could.
It took some time for Santa to finally make it into the building, and to his chair. Once seated the rows started forming, row after row. Everyone waited eagerly to get up to Santa and sit on his knee and tell him what he or she wanted for Christmas.
Santa had a gift for each and every one; most got their picture taken with him. There was so much energy and excitement in that building that it is hard to find words to describe it. There was standing room only as conservatively 300, mostly Lakeside kids showed up
The true spirit of Christmas was evident. Everybody got to pick a gift and have it wrapped for a parent or loved one.
We are thankful and honored that several Lakeside Firefighters had the opportunity to share their time with Santa and the community.
We will be waiting for Santa again next year to land his sleigh on the fire station roof. The firefighters will happily escort Santa to the Lion’s Club again.
It appeared that everyone had a wonderful, memorable time, enjoying the true heart of Lakeside and it’s very giving Lion’s Club.
Thank you from all of the firefighters at Lakeside Fire Department
