Lakeside city council considers a five year bond exclusively for law enforcement
Lakesideinfo.com has provided the discussion concerning this issue on You Tube.
A five year bond levy was discussed at the regular December meeting of the Lakeside city council.
According to City Administrator Charlie Hill, Lakeside contracted with the County Sheriff Department for Deputy Scott Moore to patrol in Lakeside for a year.
The nearly 40 hours a week ended in August of ’09. Moore’s salary was $4,890.25 per month, for a total of $58,683.
Mayor Nelson said, ” a lot of people feel like we need police protection of some sort here in Lakeside.” He complained that the speeding on North Eighth Street in front of his house had increased in the absence of Moore.
Mattie Lane asked that they consider the math. “We need $90,000 a year, how much will it cost us?”
Councilor Elaine Armstrong formed a committee to gather information on enforcement needs, and how best to tackle the financing. If you are interested in serving on the committee please contact city hall, 759-3011.
