Gingersnaps

3/4 cup shortening (can substitute better flavored Crisco)

1 cup brown sugar

1/4 cup molasses

1 egg

Cream together first 4 ingredients till fluffy

Sift together dry ingredients

2 1/4 cups sifted all-purpose flour

2 teaspoon soda

1/2 teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon ginger

1 teaspoon cinnamon

1/2 teaspoon cloves

Combine both and form into small balls. Roll in granulated sugar; place 2 inches apart on greased cookie sheet.

Bake in 375 degrees for 8-10 minutes.

Cool slightly; remove from pan. About 5 dozen
