At a special meeting of the local volunteer group Lakeside Community Association (LCA) last night, the Lakeside Citizen Patrol (LCP) automobile and records were seized from the affiliated group.

It came after some if its members decided to unilaterally spin off and form a separate non-profit entity, a move that came as a surprise to the LCA board.

Coos County Deputy Shawn Kenning assisted in seizing the vehicle. Tara Pool and Calvin Walker of the LCA board were also witnesses of the event.

Local sheriff deputy officer Scott Moore was not there to perform the duties, though he indicated to us he was on night patrol Wednesday and called us back from a call placed to Deputy Kenning. Our call was to learn more about the situation, one in which Deputy Moore was absent.

Moore confirmed to us that he was absent from performing the law enforcement duties. Moore is contracted from the Sheriff’s department with the City of Lakeside, his contract  expires October 1.

At the meeting, board member Darline Adkin read a letter that had been submitted at LCA’s regular meeting last week. It was from the LCP, stating a desire to start their own 501 C 3.

It was discussed and agreed that the Board would accept the fact that the current LCP wanted to leave and be on their own. LCA would no longer be offering them oversight.

Things seemed to come to a head over several complaints coming from the community over some LCP members actions, with some elderly fearing the LCP more than random crime.

There were four of the seven board members present which constitutes a quorum. They accepted Diane O’Bryans letter of resignation and proceeded to except Calvin Walker’s application to serve and seat him on the board. Walker had been one of the original founder’s of the Lakeside Community Association and understood the organization’s original intent.

The members are non-confrontational and coordinate with the Sheriff’s office. The Citizen’s patrol is an extension of the activity and philosophy of neighborhood watch.

A motion was made to rescind the previous motion from last week’s meeting to divide the treasury in half. LCA will retain all equipment and monies, as per the rules concerning non-profit organizations and LCA’s own by-laws.

Current LCP disbanded

A motion was made and passed unanimously to disband the current LCP. LCA is suspending the LCP operations until a restructuring can occur and all current volunteers are suspended. When the restructuring is complete and new guidelines set,the board will be reaching out to the community for volunteers.

There were no current LCP members present.

Since 1992. Lakeside has had a volunteer community patrol watching homes and streets.

The non-profit LCA was formed to generate support and participate in local anti-crime efforts.

To the many citizens of lakeside I would like to take this time to inform you that on behalf of the Lakeside Citizens Patrol and as the Patrol leader we are not going anywhere as you may had read in the story the LCA which was an umbrella we operated under decided to try and disband the Lakeside patrol at a time when we are needed the most crime rate is on the rise again and more and more places are being broken into the LCA was informed of this last week at there monthly meeting by Deputy Moore and yes it is true we as a board made comment to the LCA board that the Patrol would be spanding out on there own and at which time I thanked them for all there help along the way to help us achive our indopendance I also informed the LCA that we were just going to let them know we was starting the process which we did do but that we would give them a 30 day notice before doing this so it wasnt a slap in the face to them. At which time they thanked me. Well as it states in the articale the LCA came and took the car that the sheriffs dept donated to the LCA which was to be used by the Lakeside Citizens Patrol. Now keep in Mind the Patrol has there own board members who just give a report to the LCA on a monthly Basis but had no control over the LCP and Does not own the Lakeside Citizens Patrol like they are claiming. Well too make a long story short the President of the LCA and a board member both came to my place of employment and demanded I turn over the patrol car and all files pretaing to the patrol well they did get the car but was not sucessful with the files do to them being personal files which would be turned over to the sheriffs dept if anyone wa to get them.As I was saying so they came to where I worked at 8:45pm caught me blindsided and demanded me to turn the car over to them at which time I said I am at work can you wait until I get off work and wasnt willing to work with me so I had to clock out go home and release the car to them at which time I asked deputy Kenning if he would be able to asst me in giving me a ride I didnt feel comfortable ridding with Tara or Calvin so I got to my residents and who shows up out front none other then Rod Schilling taking pictures of me getting out of the back of a patrol Car wow was this a set up whats wrong with this and what about you the Citizens the LCA isnt going to release any funds that we the LCP raised not the LCA who never helpped with any fundraisers except Diane Obryan who was one of the most honest people I know who sat on the LCA board as well .Darline and Tara and the rest of the board are refusing to turn over Money you the citizens donated to the Patrol to help with fuel and so on. So I would just like to take the time and let you know that we the Lakeside Citizens Patrol are still going to be active and we will still continue to report crime and take reports from you the citizens to pass on to the sheriffs office just because the LCA let us go doesnt mean the LCP doesnt exsist you can email us at lakesidepatrol@yahoo.com and we will deffently respond to your needs as well.Thank You Patrol Leader Stacy Dunn.

[ed. note: We were there as a firsthand witness when you claim Rod took a picture of you getting out of the patrol car. It didn't happen. Rod took pictures at the board meeting only, but not after leaving the meeting. You need to stop spreading misinformation. We wonder if you actually believe this? Perhaps if you only spoke with accurate statements, you could establish the trust necessary for helping law enforcement properly.]

As i stated what happened was true and you can publish what you would like as you always do Rod is a publisher on this site and so of corse you will defend him I know what I seen and what I saw I as well know that you was not with Mr. Schilling in his White pick up truck when he pulled over on Hwy 101 so you report what you want .I hope the Citizens of Lakeside realy see what is truly going on here now and see that once again that Lakeside info . com allows the readers to know only what they want them to know.there was no other reason for Mr Schilling to be out in front of my residence at that time if he wasnt taking pictures then hmm what was it he was doing that he had just so happened to stop in front of my home.he wasnt checking the air in his tires thats for sure and he wasnt getting fuel because there is no service station here.So I would like you to stop and think before defending someone and stop always accusing others of mis information when it seems that you are the one who is getting the mis information there would be no reason for me to had stated what I seen and whitnessed if it had not of happened I dont gain anything by this all I want is for the citizens of Lakeside to know that they can continue counting on the LCP to help in keeping the crime to a minimum we cant be everywhere nor can the sheriffs dept but we are an orgination that can help by detouring the crime by being visable. So think about what you stated as the ed:because you reported that the LCA has sezied all Files which is not true. You stated that the LCP has been suspended this is not true.So what else is next for the citizens to hear or read that is not true?
