Update: Library summer reading program
Summer reading update: Yours truly Rod Schilling, was the presenter at the Wednesday summer reading program.
With a theme of fishing and preserving your catch, the kids were shown different types of lures, rods, and reels, for different types of fishing.
There were pictures and an explanation of how to can or smoke your catch. Lots of reading possibilities were worked into the presentation and fun stuff was gleaned by the kids.
A few new library cards were issued and points earned towards prizes at the summers end.
Next weeks presentation will be emceed by Mike Mader and will be entitled A History of Ten Mile Lake. Show up at 1:30 on Wednesday, August 5 for a hands on treat and a chance to win more points for prizes. Rod Schilling

This previous Wednesday’s library program brought writer, editor and publisher of the newly formed “North County News”, Jessica Lloyd Rogers to the library for a presentation of newspaper life.
Nine kids enjoyed the information shared by Ms Rogers about the joys of news and the reading of news. I understand that some of the participants might even be writing stories in the newspapers next edition.
Next weeks program will feature myself, Rod Schilling with a theme near and dear “fishing”.
Kids six through 14 are invited to a hands on demonstration of fishing techniques, tackle and preservation.
Associated reading materials will be available to check out and fun will be the goal.
This years reading prizes are currently on display in the Lakeside Library entrance display case. So come earn those points for a chance to win lots of cool stuff!
See You There
