Megan donates a large cabbage to the Lakeside Senior Center lunch program.

The cabbage along with some assorted lettuces was received by master gardener and Lakeside’s Harmony Community Garden coordinator, Aaron Richards, on behalf of the Lakeside Senior Center.

The produce was grown by Megan in Lakeside’s Harmony Community garden next door to the Senior Center.

The Centers cook is Aaron’s wife Sherry Richards who prepares meals for both center attendees and seniors who are house bound and get meals delivered to their homes.

The Center is open on Tuesdays and Thursdays for meals at 11:30 a.m., and hosts assorted social activities such as:

Δ Friday cribbage tournaments at 1 pm

Δ Tuesday pinochle tournament at 1 pm

Δ Occasional potlucks and parties for its members. There is a requested donation of $3 per meal for those over 60 and $4.50 for all those under 60.

August 18th Seminar by a Coos Bay husband and wife attorney team who specialize in wills and estate planning.

August 24th and 25th Driving class for seniors which must be attended on both days to graduate.

Δ The Senior Center is located at 915 North Lake Rd. in the city owned building and is subsidized by South Coast Business Employment Corporation.

Δ New members are always welcome. Dues are $4 annually.
