Funscape, safety, more news from June Lakeside meeting

Playscape
At the June, regular monthly Lakeside City Council meeting, Councilor Mack Eubanks reported on the Parks Advisory/Community Garden Committee. The Shutter’s Creek work crew placed the fence posts, and now the fencing will be completed in July at the old playground location.
The plan calls for a Funscape to replace the very old equipment that was there. Pictured is the ‘dream’ idea for the space.
All the fencing was donated by Darren O’ Bryan and Moore Construction. Volunteers picked it up in Gold Beach, with two trailers donated by Phil Heley and Orvlle Nelson. Eubanks thanked all those involved.
The Lakeside county park and the parking fees is still a topic of interest to the council and the community. Watch for more on that later……

Safety update
Councilor Rod Schilling reported on safety. Fire chief Ted Ross, put on a safety class dealing mostly with overloading electrical circuits. It is a very common reason for fires.
Also, it was reiterated that the seal testing must be done at the sewer plant. Councilor Schilling said, “it is a state law and must be done.”
Councilor Schilling reminded that there is still an opening on the library board, and encouraged someone that “has a heart for it” to apply.
