Lakeside Fire is “calling all service clubs and individuals” who might be in a position to help!

With funds from the Coquille Grant, the recent 1/4 Beef Raffle, and monies from the Lakeside Volunteer Firefighters Association, we have been able to start the process of replacing our antiquated rescue tools.

The decades old and totally unreliable Hurst Tool spreaders, cutters and hydraulic pump have been replaced with a lightly used Holmatro hydraulic pump, combi-tool spreader, and a Genesis shear.

Still needed are air bags used for lifting and shoring, rescue rated chains, rams, shoring rods and blocks, rescue reciprocating saw and blades, a portable generator, and a larger set consisting of 6.5 h.p. pump spreader and cutter.

These tools are not only used in the City of Lakeside but also on a large swath of Highway 101 and the surrounding area.

They need to be in place and available 24-7 for motor vehicle accidents, cave-ins, collapses, and various other types of rescues. The delay of bringing these items from surrounding communities can cost life and limb.

Obtaining these items is a priority. Anybody that might be able to help in any way can contact Chief Ted Ross (541) 297-5694, or myself, Operations Chief Rod Schilling (541) 294-8902.

Tax deductible donations, fund raisers, or excess equipment would be much appreciated.
