The Lakeside Lion’s Club is sponsoring a free weekly craft day on Wednesday’s, from 11:00A.M. to 2:00P.M.

So far there have been crafter’s doing crochet work, knitting, quilting, and sewing projects.

The club hopes to provide a forum for creative people to share ideas, enjoy each others company and learn or teach something new to one another. Candlemaking, building bird houses, beginning quilting, gift baskets, and weaving are among possible planned classes.

In these difficult financial times it would also be beneficial to have speakers come in to show us how to safely preserve and prepare foods, since many are maintaining home or community gardens.

The hall does have a soda machine, but all crafters are welcome to bring a snack or sack lunch if they wish. A microwave oven and coffee maker are also available for use.

One interesting activity (adopt a soldier) to become involved in is creating items for our young men and women in the military who are in need of the following items to make their tours of duty in Afghanistan and other countries a little more comfortable:

helmit liners

gaiters

scarves

neck coolers

We would be very interested in hearing from others that would like to join with us in making these much needed items.

There are certainly many service men and women far from home who would welcome these gifts, or letters or any number of small sundry items.

For mor information on Wednesday crafting contact Lion Moe Schneider at 541-550-7233 or leave a message at the Lion’s Hall number, 759-2516. The phone is checked regularly and someone will get back to you quickly.
