When many people think of being committed to God in faith, they think of being a pastor or missionary. But that’s a wrong idea!

Jesus, by his own example, was not a priest at the temple. He didn’t even take the role of a rabbi until the last three years of his life.

For nearly ninety percent of his life, he grew and learned like any other boy in his culture.

Working as a stonemason

He worked in Joseph’s business as a stonemason; which is what a carpenter did most of in Israel since they used more stone than wood.

In all Jesus did, he honored and pleased God the Father. For thirty years, he served God by growing in wisdom and stature, and by working with Joseph building buildings out of rocks.

The life that delights God’s heart is the life of faith, however you spend your days.

Whether you are a homemaker, a waiter, an accountant, a teacher, a construction worker or a retired person, you can live committed to Jesus in faith, hope, and love.

The Apostle Paul described the aim of all Christian teaching: “The purpose of my instruction is that all believers would be filled with love that comes from a pure heart, a clear conscience, and genuine faith.”   (1 Timothy 1:5)

Whatever God has given you to do, you can love people like God loves them. You can live with a conscience clear before God and keep trusting Him in faith.

Live to honor God where He has placed you, then your life will be one that pleases Him.
