‘Reader,’ please except our apology

We would like to apologize to one particular reader we heard about, but never got her full name.

This reader went to the library recently expecting to attend a meeting based on Lakesideinfo.com’s calendar information, but ended up wasting part of a day, as there was no meeting.

Our sources for that meeting time were two: the quarterly news letter published by the RLFD and the Lakeside community calender. But these were both wrong, so our information here was also wrong. We recognize that these were inadvertent mistakes. These will happen from time to time. The good news is that citizens are participating.

Concerning the new library schedule, we’ve learned since that the day for the meeting has now been changed to Wednesdays (apparently as a cost saving measure).

Good communications and openness in our government is an important piece of making our system work. And a reliable press is a vital piece of the puzzle, even a newfangled internet news source.

So, the result of this is a good learning experience. And with that, part of this education is that we are pleased to reprint communications we received today from Nadine Goodrich and welcome her to hopefully providing you with regular updates as to what is happening at the Lakeside Library.

In the future, with Nadine’s help, we also plan to help create a transparent online look at the flow of dollars that fund the library, as well as the details as to what those dollars provide. The library is funded in large measure by the Coos County Library Service District, a taxing district set up to fund libraries. Here’s a brief history of library funding in the county.

Here is the Lakeside Librarian’s update:

Lakeside Public Library-Open Hours

Monday and Wednesday: 12noon to 6 pm
Tuesday and Thursday: 12 noon to 5 pm
Friday  2 pm to 6 pm
Saturday: 12 noon to 4 pm
Sundays: CLOSED

Library Board meetings are held at 3 pm, every 3rd Tuesday of each month. Friends of the Library meet at 1 pm,  every 2nd Wednesday of each month. Both meetings are held in the Senior Center Dining Room, which is located in the building behind Lakeside City Hall. Both meetings are open to the public.

Library business hours and contact information, as well as meeting times, are recorded correctly on the Lakeside Community Association Calendar.

The Library Director, Board and Friends Group invite visitors, and welcome support from our Community.

regarding library services. Lakeside Library is a member of Coos County Library
