Reedsport Area News “Rumor or Not”

“Rumor or not?”

The absence of the popular column in the Reedsport Area News in itself has become subject of rumors. 

Rumor in Lakeside, among allies of Mayor Orville Nelson has it that the Reedsport Area Newscolumn was “scared off” from writing the weekly column.

Prior to his accident, Nelson had been widely criticized in the column for running the city of Lakeside with a heavy hand.

As to being scared off? “Not true,” says Rumor in a telephone interview! ”It has been a combination of things.”

 ”Two story leads are in Grand Jury, for whatever that will bring and we can not talk about them. As to Lakeside, it was decided to respect the need for recovery from Orville’s perhaps life threatening injuries in that strange accident.”

 

We were told that R.A.N. publishers took a needed vacation about that same time, so Rumor took one too! Apparently other interests have developed, but the issues that Rumor was pursuing still need some space and until Grand Jury action is announced, Rumor says it will honor that.

 

We did find that one of the under-reported stories which Rumor daylighted has led to an extended  Grand Jury inquiry.

 

About Lakeside, Rumor said “we are sure that there will be something there before new Councilors are sworn in. The Mayor apparently is back, and we will be watching to see what he plans to do before  innauguration time.”

 

So, Rumor will be back too, but likely with a more abbreviated form.
