Lakeside gets ready for Christmas
Lakeside has boasted some of the finest street decorations for the holidays for many years.
Lakeside Women’s Club started in the mid 80′s with the candy canes and built a festive downtown over the years with snowmen snowflakes, santas, toy soldiers and more, with a beautiful wreath and garland that welcomed you to downtown proper as their last purchase in 1996.
The Chamber of Commerce is now in possession of the decorations after the Women’s Club gave ownership to them.
The decorations require annual fix-up and readiness for their annual debut. This year was no exception. What is new is that all the decorations won’t make an appearance.
Many of you will recall that there was a big wind storm last year that occurred right after the decorations went up damaging many of the brackets that hold them, some of them are old favorites.
Several volunteers will be working on the brackets so that next year they will hopefully be all ready to assume their role of making Lakeside festive for the holidays.
