Parks Advisory/Community Garden Committee
The Parks Advisory/Community Garden Committee is again working hard to complete the community garden behind City Hall. It has always been our plan to have a storage shed near the garden for tools and fertilizer. We have laid the foundation and plan to have the shed up by late August. We also plan to build more garden beds for next summer. We have had more requests for garden plots and hope to have at least 6-8 more ready next spring.
The success of the garden has been overwhelming, to say the least. The applications for next spring will go out in January and we hope to have them all assigned and ready to go a little earlier next year. It has not been a wonderful garden year, as you well know, but the garden has produced very well and most gardeners are harvesting cool weather crops….tomatoes are not going to be a bumper crop this year!
There is a donation box in City Hall next to the reception area if you would like to help with the cost of running the garden and landscaping around town.
One of our main projects this coming fall and spring will be to finish the landscaping of City Hall and start on the sewer plant. The water treatment plant is the first thing most people see when driving into Lakeside and we would like to make it attractive with a few plants and some flowers.
We are also working on a three year plan so we have some goals to work toward. We meet the last Monday of each month and you are welcome to join us and help decide what will be done in Lakeside.

Re. “start of landscaping on the sewer plant”. If you would like to purchase any fruiting trees or landscaping trees for this project at a discounted rate, please feel free to contact me. I would need to know by the next few months.
