LAKESIDE FIREWORKS END ABRUPTLY, PYROTECH INJURED

Lakeside  was well into another fabulous display of fireworks for the Independence Day celebration on Saturday when the pyrotech was injured prior to the last bursts.  The finale multi-shot box detonated, knocked the pyrotech flat on his back, one of volunteer firefighters protected him from further harm while the explosions continued, however one of the boards from the box had broken a bone in the pyrotech’s foot, he thought he was fine and lit off the next round (while probably in shock), than found out he couldn’t walk, so the display ended without the multi-shot finale.  The pyrotech was transported to Lower Umpqua Hospital and released approximately 2am.  We are happy to report that he is doing fine.  The fireworks that did not get detonated will be added to next years fireworks display,  so it should really be a “big” one next year.
